Class policies

SECTION A. GENERAL CLASS POLICY

  1. Children under 6 must be attended by a parent or guardian at the venue at all times.

  2. Students must be dressed in appropriate swimming attire for class.

  3. Students may only enter the pool when their instructor is present.

  4. Parents/Guardians are not allowed on the pool deck and must remain within designated waiting areas.

  5. Misconduct or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated in lessons. Staff have full discretion to enforce a “time-out” or request that the student leave the class if safety is deemed to be compromised.

  6. Replacement coaches may cover or take over classes at the discretion of Red Dot Penguins.

  7. Students may be assigned to a different class within the timeslot at the recommendation of the coach.

 

HYGIENE

  1. All pool users are required to shower before entering the pool as required by the National Environment Agency (NEA).

  2. Students suffering from vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, or who are or have been unwell in the 48 hours prior to class will not allowed to attend class.

  3. Babies and toddlers who are not fully toilet-trained must wear swim diapers for lessons.

  4. Bandages must be removed before swimming.

  5. Allergies and other medical conditions must be declared in the Student Portal.

  6. Red Dot Penguin reserves the right to disallow attendance if there are health, hygiene and safety concerns.

  7. Parents/guardians will be liable for any cost involved in the cleaning up of their child’s inappropriate excretion, including and not limited to, cost of closure of facility.

 

TOILET ACCESS

  1. Children ages 6 and below are allowed to use toilets of the opposite gender when accompanied by an adult

  2. Children ages 7 and up must use toilets of their respective gender.

 

SECTION B. FEES & PAYMENT 

  1. Fees are strictly non-refundable.

  2. GST is applicable to all fees. Fees are quoted exclusive of prevailing GST rates.

  3. Fees will be charged by direct debit via the Student Portal.

  4. Payments via other means including bank transfers and PayNow will be subject to a $10.00 admin fee.

  5. Fees will be debited monthly, pro-rated for the number of weeks in the month with Public Holidays, any school-initiated closures and the school’s Annual Break in December. [Not applicable to Flexi packages]

  6. Non-payment of fees will result in the release of the allocated class slot.

  7. A one-time non-refundable Registration Fee is applicable to all new students.

SECTION C. CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY

  1. Notification of absence must be provided via the Student Portal or App up to 60 minutes prior to the class start time to qualify for a Make-up Token. Classes cancelled less than 60 minutes prior are considered to have been attended and thus, utilised. This does not apply to programs on monthly subscriptions.

  2. For classes cancelled due to inclement weather, you will receive one Make-up Token.

  3. For cancellations by Red Dot Penguins without prior notification to billing date, the cost of the lesson will be re-credited to your child’s account.

  4. Lessons do not run on Singapore Public Holidays and you will not be charged for lessons that fall on these days. (Reference: https://www.mom.gov.sg/employment-practices/public-holidays)

 

SECTION D. MAKE-UP CLASS POLICY

  1. Make-Up  Policies only apply to Regular Enrolments. They do not apply to programs on Flexi Packages or Subscriptions.

  2. A Make-up Token is issued when a cancellation of class is submitted through the Student Portal at least 60 minutes prior to the class start time or when classes are cancelled due to inclement weather. No reason needs to be provided by client.

  3. No Make-up Tokens will be issued in the following cases:

    • Failure to submit online notification 60 minutes prior to the class start time

    • Student is turned away from class by the staff due to hygiene or safety reasons.

  4. Make-up Tokens are valid for 2 years from the class due to be attended. Only current clients are entitled to the use of Make-up Tokens.

  5. Make-up Tokens cannot be exchanged for cash, credit or other benefits.

  6. Make-up Tokens can be used between all venues and days.

  7. Make-up Tokens can be booked on a self-serve basis via the Student Portal. We do not accept bookings of Make-up Tokens via phone or email.

  8. Make-up Classes are strictly subject to availability and are available for booking up to 14 days in advance.

 

SECTION E. ENROLMENT FREEZE POLICY

  1. Once your child is enrolled into a class, lesson slots are held exclusively for your child. You may “freeze” the enrolment should the need arise. All credits and Make-up Tokens will be kept as-is.

  2. Minimum duration of the enrolment freeze is 3 weeks.

  3. Advance notice of 3 days before the start date of the freeze request is required. Requests submitted up to 1 hour before the class will only be approved in the event of an emergency on a case-by-case basis.

  4. A freeze cannot be requested for lessons already conducted. 

  5. Requests must be submitted via: https://bit.ly/RDP-freeze. Other submission formats are not accepted.

  6. An expected end date of the freeze must be provided. If an extension is needed, please submit a new form.

*Only applicable for Learn-To-Swim Enrolments

SECTION F: WET WEATHER POLICY

  1. In the event of inclement weather (e.g. heavy rain, lightning), class start times may be delayed. Classes will be cancelled after 10 minutes of consistent inclement weather and a Make-up Token will be issued.

  2. Classes in progress will be stopped immediately in the event of reports of lightning activity.

  3. If class has progressed for more than 30 minutes, the class is considered conducted and no Make-up Token will be issued in the applicable program.

  4. Classes may resume at the discretion of the Management if there is no report of Cloud-to-Ground lightning activity within a 6km radius. (Reference taken from the NEA-MSS Lightning Alert website)

  5. Due to weather unpredictability, Red Dot Penguins will not be able to provide advance or off-site notice of class cancellation.

 

SECTION G: CLASS ENROLMENT & WITHDRAWAL POLICY

  1. Enrolment is year-round unless otherwise informed.

  2. A registration fee is required for all new students at Red Dot Penguins. Fees vary per program.

  3. Lesson slots are held exclusively for your child, except in the folllowing scenarios:

    • Prolonged absences for any other reason not communicated to Red Dot Penguins.

    • Non-payment of monthly fees by the stipulated payment date.

  4. First month fees of new students are pro-rated.

  5. For withdrawal from swim classes, notice must be submitted online 14 days from the date of the last lesson. If no written notice of withdrawal is provided, the next month’s fees will be charged as per normal until notice is received.

  6. Withdrawal must take place from the Student Portal / App.

  7. Withdrawal from lessons will lead to a forfeiture of all unused Make-up Tokens.

  8. A penalty will be imposed if you are rejoining lessons:

    • Within 3 months of withdrawal: 25% of registration fee

    • More than 3 months: Full registration fee

OTHERS

  1. All students must accept the policies in full via the Red Dot Penguins Student Portal.

  2. Red Dot Penguins staff are valued members of the team, Red Dot Penguins reserves the right to request any clients to leave the premises to ensure the safety and well-being of all.

  3. In the event of any disputes or negotiation to the above Terms and Conditions, Red Dot Penguins reserves the right to make a final decision at the discretion of the Management.

  4. Red Dot Penguins reserves the right to update the T&Cs stated here. Notification of updates will take place via the Student Portal / App.
